I'm Jill Brownsell — an independent Master Celebrant based near Norwich, Norfolk. I deliver family ceremonies across Norfolk and Suffolk, as well as further afield — even overseas.

If you’re looking for a celebrant, it’s because you don’t want to settle for ‘just the norm.’ You want something different — something personal and unique to you or your loved one. A ceremony where the real magic happens, where your vows, your ring exchange, and every detail is centred around you.
My ceremonies are created with you in mind, not bound by scripts or restrictions like those of a registrar or church. Increasingly, couples choose to complete the simple legal paperwork at a registry office — a quick, inexpensive, and straightforward process — and then save the joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments for their big day.
Life’s most important milestones deserve to be celebrated in a way that feels truly special. Whether you’re beginning a new love story or honouring a life lived with love, I’ll be by your side, listening, guiding, and creating a ceremony that reflects not just who you are, but the love and meaning at the heart of it all.
What types of ceremonies does a celebrant perform?
Many of the people who choose me are looking for something more than “off-the-shelf.” They want ceremonies that feel unique and personal, created with warmth and meaning.
I officiate at weddings, civil partnerships, and vow renewals, as well as naming ceremonies for children and adults. I also help families mark times of loss through funerals, planned and living funerals, and memorials or celebrations of life.

Meet Jill Brownsell, Celebrant in Norfolk and Suffolk
I am a professional celebrant, trained by the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and I specialise in creating unique, personal, and memorable ceremonies for weddings, vow renewals, funerals, and naming events.
My background includes a decades-long career in policing, during which I discovered a natural ability to connect with people from diverse walks of life and cultures. I’m warm, approachable, and genuinely enjoy meeting new people and learning their stories. I love sharing bold and creative ideas that can elevate your ceremony, while helping you feel calm, confident, yet excited as everything starts to come together.
We’ll spend time getting to know one another, so when your special day arrives, you can feel assured that the person leading your ceremony is not a stranger, but someone who knows you and understands what matters most to you.
Above all, my goal is to make sure you feel supported and cared for throughout the whole process. Whether your occasion is one of joy or one of deep sadness, you can trust me to guide you with sensitivity, warmth, and professionalism.
Your Choice of Location is Where I Work
I live in the heart of Norfolk, just south of Norwich, so many of my ceremonies take place across Norfolk and Suffolk. I also travel into other parts of East Anglia, an area I know well, and I’m always happy to go further afield — even overseas if your special occasion takes you there.
With me as your celebrant, you’re not restricted to a registered venue. I conduct ceremonies almost anywhere: city venues, country manor houses, barns, woodlands, beaches, gardens, or even your own back garden. Indoors or outdoors, at home in the UK or abroad — there are very few limits to where you can celebrate.
And the same goes for timing. Day or night, dusk or dawn — if your venue allows it, let’s make it happen.
In short, your day is all about you. Whatever you have in mind, I want to hear it and help bring it to life. My role is to shape your ideas into a perfect and memorable celebration, wherever and whenever you want it.

What matters most to me is creating bespoke, uplifting and joyous ceremonies that leave lasting memories for everyone present. Whether you prefer something more traditional but with a personal touch, or a celebration that mixes tradition with a dose of quirk — even a hint of outrageousness — I’ll help make it happen.
And as for wardrobe? I have no limitations. High heels and finery, jeans and wellies in a field, or dressing to match your theme (though I may draw the line at naturism!) — I’m always happy to join in.
